Art Statement
I consider my works to be dense optical fields of neutral color and pattern. These fields comprise many layers of screened acrylic on panel. Within these layers, nearly transparent process color (CMYK) is placed within the grid structure created by the screen. This creates a field where each process color is seemingly perceptible but always elusive. Other elements such as the moiré from the shifting screen and trapped air bubbles begin to lead the work out of its purely material exploration into illusion, creating an inherent paradox. Large amounts of acrylic material and color are literally stacked (or folded) again and again into something that dissolves all systems. Even chaotic residual effects, air bubbles and moiré patterns slowly flow and fade within parameters of this synthetic field.
